Abortion Statistics

Today I am going to focus on abortion statistics. These numbers should give you chills. How can this many people truly believe that these human beings do not have the right to life? Why? Because it may be an inconvenience for someone? Maybe that should have been thought about before the pregnancy happened. Either way, I’m tired of society teaching people not to take responsibility for their actions. This is a prime example! Actions have consequences. You need to do the RIGHT thing and take responsibility for them. A baby doesn’t ask to be conceived. It’s parents make that decision for them by their actions whether it is planned or unplanned. So why are these innocent human beings held accountable for other people’s actions? In the case of an unwanted pregnancy, why would a woman be encouraged to end an innocent life? I would think she would be encouraged to give that child into the loving arms of parents who have been waiting for him/her to come into their lives via adoption. Let me ask you this: Why do people think the death penalty shouldn’t be allowed (even though those who are on death row have committed heinous crimes including murder), but these same people think nothing of murdering an innocent baby? Because that’s exactly what abortion is. Here are some of the statistics I've found:

-There are approximately 42 Million abortions each year worldwide

-There are approximately 115,000 each day worldwide

-In the United States alone, each year there are 1.37 million abortions (1996)

-In the United States alone, each day there are approximately 3,700

-Abortions due to rape or incest: 1%

-Abortions due to health problems for either the mother or the child: 6%

-Abortions due to unwanted pregnancy: 93%

-It is estimated that 43% of women will have at least one abortion by the age of 45.

-It is estimated that 47% of all abortions performed, are on women who have had at least one previous abortion.

  1. Interesting facts. I didn't realize the scope of the problem. Are there atats by ethnicity or religion? Would be interested in those as well.

This is in reply to your question:

    Who's having abortions (race)?
While white women obtain 60% of all abortions, their abortion rate is well below that of minority women. Black women are more than 3 times as likely as white women to have an abortion, and Hispanic women are roughly 2 times as likely.

    Who's having abortions (religion)?
Women identifying themselves as Protestants obtain 37.4% of all abortions in the U.S.; Catholic women account for 31.3%, Jewish women account for 1.3%, and women with no religious affiliation obtain 23.7% of all abortions. 18% of all abortions are performed on women who identify themselves as "Born-again/Evangelical".
